S7-300 PLC is an analog small to medium-sized PLC, with independent power supply, CPU, and other modules. The power supply (PS), CPU, and other modules can be tightly fixed on the standard track of Siemens S7-300 through a U-shaped bus. Each module has a bus connector, which is plugged into the back of each module. The power module is always installed on the far left side of the rack, with the CPU module next to the power module. On the right side of the CPU is the IM interface module that can be selected. If only the main rack rail is used and no expansion bracket is used, the IM interface module can be omitted.

When configuring the hardware of the main rack rail using S7 programming software, the power supply, CPU, and IM are placed in slots 1, 2, and 3 of the rail, respectively. A guide rail has a total of 11 slot numbers: slot 1 to slot 11, where slots 4 to 11 allow for the placement of modules other than power, CPU, and IM at will.
